Introduction to Traineeships
Traineeships are a new and exciting opportunity to help young people aged 16-18 to get work ready for a career. It is a short 10-16 week pre-apprenticeship programme which provides work experience, work preparation skills and maths, English and digital skills development.
Whether you are an employer looking to recruit fresh talent to grow your business or a young person looking for a chance to develop their skills, and gain work experience a Traineeship offers a range of mutual benefits.
At JTL, we offer Traineeships in selected locations across England, enabling young people to get a flavour of what it’s like to be a plumber, heating engineer, electrician or engineering maintenance operative and become better prepared to start an apprenticeship programme.
Although we specialise in the building services engineering sector, we provide young people with the experience and skills to help them apply for any type of work.

Through our Traineeships programme you will:
- Work on-site with established employers and get a valuable reference to support your job applications

Eligibility criteria
- You must be between 16-18 years old
- Not currently in education, employment or training
- Not gained a qualification higher than Alevels
